Feminists only care about abortion to the extent that it can be used to further their “womyn as victims” narrative. Try asking a feminist about sex-selective abortion. It’s only a right until a woman decides she doesn’t want to have a daughter.
But modern feminism certainly is.
For the record:
The “1st” wave was the suffragettes. Not so much an ideology as a movement.
2nd-wave feminism happened around the seventies. Started off as a movement, but quickly became infiltrated by cultural Marxists. Would later be used to rationalize much of the third-wave feminist nonsense.
3rd-wave (“radical”) feminism started off with the riot girl scene — female punk rockers with little to no talent or concept of propriety. It would eventually make its way to the universities to merge with what second-wave feminism had become (Womyn’s Studies) and the growing push for diversity and multiculturalism.
4th-wave feminism is characterized by intersectionality. (Because multiculturalism wasn’t “diverse” enough.) This one originated squarely in the universities with the feminist appropriation of LGBT issues and the advent of modern “Gender Studies”.
(“Gender Studies” actually used to refer to the branch of Womyn’s Studies that dealt with male/female relations. Back when there were still only TWO genders.)
Misandry wasn’t made socially acceptable by feminists — it became so because men were afraid to stand up to sexism for of fear of being labeled misogynists.
I couldn’t care less about gender representation in the workforce — what matters is that people are not being discriminated against solely on the basis of their sex. And the reality is that sex discrimination has never been more institutionalized.
Women used to be denied opportunities due to naive social prejudices. Now men are denied opportunities because of quotas. Which is the greater evil?
Social justice notwithstanding, women make up 49.55% of the world population. Imagine defining yourself by your membership to this protected minority group. That’s what we saw last night from those sweet sister suffragettes.
It’s a common tactic with the Regressive Left. They actually taught us how to “redirect” in a gen ed communications class I took in college. They claimed it was a “debate tactic”.
Only back then there was actually some finesse involved. You look at young leftists these days like this brave womxn and AOC, and it becomes obvious that no one has even bothered to instruct them. They simply ignore inconvenient questions and come out with their prepackaged soundbites.
NPCs at their finest. Which is probably why I am now able to watch this womxn and laugh. A few months ago, that wouldn’t have been the case.
[Tay] can vouch for me on that. He’s been subjected to more of my feminism-is-cancer rants than any of you guys.
Feminism is an ideology that has nothing to do with women’s rights. Womyn are simply convenient tools for these neo-Marxists to achieve their vision of an identity-based caste system of goodthinking minority womyn on top and cis white males — and “gender traitors” — on the bottom.
Celebrities have made feminism seem sexy, and the mainstream media has been sugarcoating the inherent racism and misogyny of it all, but feminism’s worst enablers have been ordinary people who say, “The don’t mean that literally,” and “Not all feminists…”
Quite possibly the single-greatest Twitter meltdown I have ever witnessed. This thread has EVERYTHING — identity politics, feminism, victimhood, and the word ‘literally’ misused so many times, I finally stopped counting.
I particularly like the part when she contemplates calling her lawyer and receives a response only nine minutes and five tweets later. (She then goes on to complain about white Jews complaining about libel.)
As an added bonus, by the end of the thread it becomes clear that this brave womxn of color doesn’t even qualify a Jew under Jewish law.
